We operate a medium-sized workshop situated in 1161 Anchor Street, Matsulu, Mbombela (Nelspruit). We have a very high caliber of engineers and technicians responsible for our production processes. Our processes are designed and managed in accordance with ISO9001:2008. The organization is the process of obtaining ISO9001 certification before the end of its 2016/17 financial year. We design, assemble, wire, factory test and package panels that can be used in various applications that include, but are not limited to, power distribution for all environmental conditions, industrial process control and building management systems. The panels are custom-designed and built to meet the specific customer specifications provided.
Low-voltage and Medium-voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Adaptation Strategy
In the growth strategy that was developed towards the first quarter of 2010, the organization projected the participation and the winning of one of the switchgear and controlgear contracts from Eskom's generation division. To this end, the organization has been in discussions with a number of international companies that have suitable products for adaptation and localization. The discussions on both the LV and MV switchgear and controlgear adaptation and localization is expected to be finalized during the second quarter of 2016. The organization hopes to sign a channel partner agreement with localization aspects by the end of the second quarter in 2016 with one or two companies that best align with the organization’s core values and vision.
Protection and Control and/or Metering Long Term Contract
The organization has identified a long-term contract(s) on either protection and/or control panels or sub-station metering panels as one of the contributors to its sustainability drive. To this end, a strategy was developed and team assembled to specifically work aggressively on landing one of these long-term contracts. The organization participated in Eskom’s contract opportunity for the manufacture and supply of metering sub-station panels and modules. We are pleased to report that we are one of the companies shortlisted and requested to build a prototype panel for the final evaluation of the tender. To be shortlisted for the final phase of evaluation is in itself an achievement considering that the organization has been in operations for less than five (10) years since incorporation.
Medium-voltage Solid Insulated Switchgear and Controlgear (SIS) Solution
The organization together with two of its strategic partners; Tswelopele Engineering based in Midrand South Africa and a foreign company located in a country associated with BRICS – an association of five major emerging national economics, are in the final stages of designing and type-testing a complete solid insulated switchgear and controlgear solution for both power generation and distribution industries. This SIS technology is not new, but it is seldom applied on MV Switchgear and Controlgear with draw-out circuit breakers in South Africa and specifically in Africa as a whole. Schneider-electric is perhaps considered to be a progressive OEM in this regard as it has two product-lines or platforms that uses this technology (GenieEvo – 13.8kV, 2500A, 25kA for 3s and Premset – 17.5kV, 1250A, 25kA for 3s). However, both product lines are fixed-type applications and not fully compliant with the requirements of the targeted industries. The organization hopes to have a solution that is fully compliant to the targeted industries by the end of 2016. This targeted month and year ties up well with the organization’s 2017 objectives.
